Whenever possible, Chef Neal Myers and the kitchen team at Wentworth Inn try to source their menu ingredients from local farms as a part of our “farm to table” food strategy. Since it is now summer, the goodness of fresh veggies and fruits is reflected in the offerings on our dining room menu. There is no seasoning that can substitute for freshness, and Chef Myers’ ace in the hole is Farmer Glen who delivers veggies to the Wentworth Inn several times a week. Farmer Glen stays super busy in the warm summer sun, weeding, watering, and picking vegetables for diners who will appreciate his careful work.

Last week two lucky ladies from our Front Desk had the experience of a life time while aboard the Mt. Washington SnowCoach. Growing up in this area, Jamie and Meaghan are no stranger to Pinkham Notch, Mt. Washington, or its surrounding valleys. Yet, these two locals had an exceptional first-time adventure!
The Mt. Washington SnowCoach is a 9 passenger tour vehicle that was custom designed to climb up the Mt. Washington Auto Road in winter. Instead of four wheels, this vehicle is equipped with an aggressive track system that is perfect for traveling along the extreme terrain. Guests are transported up to over 4,000 feet above sea level, into a sub-arctic world above tree line. These fascinating vehicles were recently converted to propane, or liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), which is a safe, clean-burning, and high energy alternative fuel. Want to learn more? Click here.
As you leave the base of Mt. Washington and begin the ascent your tour guide, who is also an experienced SnowCoach driver, begins to tell the history of the mountain. They are always full of fun facts, and they even stopped twice so that we could jump out to take photos! The weather on Mt. Washington changes in a minute… literally.
Check out the photos to see what I mean!
Jamie and Ron enjoy a blue bird sky and they can see for miles. On the other hand, Meaghan and Darwin enjoy a firsthand experience of Mt. Washington’s ever changing weather! While both couples embarked on the same journey, you can see how different each experience was.
When planning your next winter adventure, keep this unique adventure in mind! The Mt. Washington SnowCoach is located only 15 minutes north of Jackson Village, NH. Enjoy a day of shopping in the Tax Free Outlets at Settler’s Green Plaza, embark on a journey into the ever changing weather system of Mt. Washington, dine with us in our Certified Farm to Table restaurant, and finish your day soaking in our Signature Deluxe Suites, equipped with Private Outdoor Hot Tub.
We look forward to welcoming you to The Wentworth!

In 1869, Joshua Trickey built The Wentworth as a wedding gift to his daughter Georgia Trickey and her husband-to-be, General Marshall Wentworth. Before they were to be married, General Wentworth respectfully asked Mr. Trickey for his daughters hand in marriage. We are lucky enough to have this very personal and intimate hand written letter at our historic hotel to this day. It reads:
New York Nov 30th, 1869
Mr. J. Trickey My dear and respected Sir:
I thank you very much for your favorable answer to my proposal. I never can be grateful enough for the happiness you have bestowed upon me, rest assured that I shall always strive to merit your approbation. I think I can make your daughter happy- we love each other devotedly and are very anxious for your consent to marriage the 1st week in June 1869- and if we can get your consent we shall be very happy- it is very hard for us to be separated from each other for so long- but if you give us your consent to our union then it will not seem half so long and besides it will make us very happy.
I am very anxious to see your lovely daughter once more- it seems an age since I saw her. You can imagine how I feel to be separated from a lady that I love better than my life for two long years and not once having the pleasure of seeing her in the whole time.
Hoping that you will consider my proposal in as favorable a light as you did my other- I thank you again very kindly and close- hoping to hear from you soon.
Yours very respectfully, Marsh C. Wentworth
